How to Best Prepare for Your Senior Photoshoot

You’ve been planning and preparing for months, and you may be here today to find out how to best prepare for your senior photoshoot. Planning a photo shoot can be so much fun and there are a few steps you need to take in order to make your photos the best they can be!

1 Week Before Your Senior Photoshoot

About a week before your shoot you should be sure to drink plenty of water. Staying hydrated will make sure that pesky acne stays away and will make your skin glow in your photos! During this time you should also try on all of the outfits you’re planning on wearing in your photos. It’s especially important to not forget to try on your shoes and accessories too! Sometimes when you put the entire outfit together you may see the outfit differently than on the hanger.

Another important piece in your outfit that is often forgotten is your bra selection. A bad bra choice will really break an outfit. Not only are bra straps hard to photoshop, without the right bra on your shirt or dress will not lay right. Trying on your full look a week before the shoot allows you enough time to make changes if something doesn’t look or fit exactly how you want! This also makes sure there are no unwanted surprises on the day of your shoot.

2-3 Days Before your Photoshoot

I know we ALL love to be tan! I know I feel my best when I have a nice summer glow. Unfortunately, if your photo shoot isn’t in the summer you may not have that natural summer tan. If you’re planning on getting a spray tan or use a self-tanner, you should schedule it around 2-3 days before the photoshoot. If getting a spray tan is something you’re not used to getting, a trial run 2-3 weeks before the shoot is crucial! A fake tan is a great way to get “camera ready” for your photos, but it can go wrong in so many ways if you’re not prepared. If you are unsure about the fake tan on you, natural is always best to make sure you don’t have any unusual tan lines or splotches.

The Night Before your Photoshoot

Finally!! It’s the night before your shoot! Before you go to bed, wash your hair AND blow dry it. This will get all the grease out and will leave your hair looking lush and beautiful! You want to make sure your hair is as volumized and dry as possible for your photoshoot.  Make sure you go to bed early and get plenty of sleep so you don’t have puffy eyes in the morning.
